Call at night on moorland

Can anybody help identify this sound at the beginning of this clip? I was on a moorland around 2000ft in the Yorkshire Dales near Whernside about 1am. I could hear this sound quite a lot for 2-3 seconds at a time but this was the only snatch I managed to record. I thought it was a roding woodcock (hence the filename) but listening online to samples it is nothing like that. Suggestions most welcome. Thank you!

As context to the environment there were lots of lapwing, curlew and two short eared owls in the area. A couple of photos of the area earlier in the evening.
