Bird id

Crikey, what a sorry looking specimen. It looks as though it's in the middle of a serious moult but what it is I really can't figure out. It seems to have a slim beak so that would rule out a Sparrow. Hopefully, someone else might have an idea.

yeah it does look quite bedraggled! it has a right good munch on the peanuts though so I hope it's doing okay. thanks for your reply!
