We've just come back from an evening walk and heard this bird call amongst the usual evening song.
Couldn't identify it, any ideas?
Is it a type of Pigeon call or something else? it was up high in a conifer (please excuse our dog collar at the end!)

First, welcome to the forum, and a nice clear recording, but sadly, I don't recognise the call, though I have to agree, it does sound like one of the pigeon or dove family.
Hopefully, someone will recognise the call and give you an answer.

This time of year, calls can get difficult due to juveniles being about. Collared doves don't survive long around here, but given my limited exposure to their calls, it does have more than a hint of collared dove about it. Maybe a juvenile???? That is very much a guess.....but, I am fairly sure there is an adult calling at the start of the clip.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

wytonbirdman said:Thanks Mike, i had to convert the audio in audacity to get it to sound loud enough, my wife knows her bird song but said she'd never heard the whooping noise before.
You're welcome, and hopefully we'll see more of you on the forum.
