I seem to have posted twice by accident.
Anyway, it seems a bit weird how it was in the loft as there is no food source up there, and I'm not aware of them eating just about anything (as a rat would do).
Just for clarity, it's been making scratching and gnawing noises up there for about 2-3 weeks.
I caught it the first morning after baiting a humane trap with a tiny splodge of peanut butter.
Not sure if there is a family up there as this is the first day after catching it.

Re possible food supply, i once had a mouse in our attic many years ago - it was eating "packing peanuts" I'd stored there, as some are made from starch, thus biodegradable.
