As I said yesterday, the long eyebrow stripe and light colour make it a Whinchat for me as well.
Fair enough. I'll give you that. Bit keen for a whinchat to be here in a cold northerly in March, let alone nest building.

I've just checked our observations in SW France & last year the first Whinchat was 7 April & none seen so far this year. So unlikely to be an early arriver. It could be an odd one that didn't migrate, as happens sometimes.
