Saw this bird at the bird bath just now. First thought it was a Coal Tit as it was facing me. Then it turned and I saw a flash of gold on its wings. Had all the correct markings for a Goldfinch but no red face. Distinctive black and white head and flash of gold on its wings, but plain face. Juvenile? Bit early and anyway do the youngsters have the black and white head. Puzzled. Phil
