Does anyone have an idea what this bird is? It is about the same size as a sparrow, looks very similar to a female house sparrow, the beak looks a little thin though. I heard the song when I got out of my car, and it kept going all the time it took to get indoors and get my camera. Against the sky there is not a lot of detail on the colouring, but I am hoping that someone might recognise it from the song.
It's a Dunnock, polo. They've got quite a sweet little song although rather repetitive. They become even more vocal as the breeding season approaches. Here's a close-up view of one in full voice.
