Hi all. I spotted this rare hybrid Mallard drake in the Stour River in Canterbury, Kent. Anyone knows what the hybris pair is? Mallard and Pochard?
What makes you think it's a hybrid? Apart from the colour of the bill it looks like a fairly bog standard Mallard. If you look closely there is some sign of yellow on the bill so it may be some genetic abnormality. Most of the odd looking Mallards (Manky Mallards) that we see are the result of selective breeding.

Difficult to say. I think I'd have just written it off as a Mallard with an abnormal bill colour.
