  • I would say it is a young Robin David?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Hi Evelyn, i think not a Robin as i took another picture of a Robin just at this place and a few seconds later....

  • David, I'm not quite clear whether these are all the same bird because the first two look rather different. I've lightened the first two  and enlarged them so that they are a bit clearer. I can't do anything with the last one as it's too small.

I'm really not sure what they are especially if they were taken at Christmas time as you said.

  • Hi David, the second pic is a Chiffchaff, difficult to tell the others from these pics but they are definitely warblers, very probably Chiffchaffs as well, as you are correct in thinking they are winter visitors. Chiffchaff generally over-winter in southern Spain and North Africa.
  • Thanks Tony and Mr. B for your interest...Having a look to my Birds pocket guide it says Willow Warbler is very difficult to be distinguished from Chiffchaff by sight, but one useful clue to do that is Chiffchaffs spend the winter in western Europe unlike Willow Warblers do, which would correspond with Mr. B says, wouldnt it?

  • Here you are another pic , more useful to identify these birds may be..

  • Yes i would definitely say another Chiffchaff. It would be very unusual to see Willow Warblers around Granada as they winter south of the Sahara. With a decent view Willow Warblers and Chiffchaff aren't usually too difficult to separate - although sometimes there are birds of either species which can be confused, but they can be immediately identified by their call or song.
