I saw this at Almondell and Calderwood Park today (Livingston, Scotland).
There was a stream, which was near a river, it has woodland to one side and farmland to the other.
These images are blown up, It was larger than a Blackbird, smaller than a Wood Pigeon, but closer to the size of a Wood Pigeon. I first thought a cuckoo, but the markings are all wrong.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
