Ok guys and gals, since I've been on here a bit now, I'll post a little teaser for your good selves. If you're an experienced birder, this one should pose little problem. IF SO, PLEASE HANG FIRE, AND LET SOMEONE WHO MIGHT ENJOY THE CHALLENGE A BIT MORE HAVE A BASH . I'M SURE THEY'LL GET TWICE THE KICK OUT OF A CORRECT ANSWER!
In case anyone's wondering, the bird's OK, it was just being ringed.

It's a bird that occurs in Britain regularly :)
Sorry, keeping you up am I? I've been away updating my profile, since it looks like I'm here to stay and I'm not going to be lynched for my more er...leftfield quizzer!

As a lightweight non-experienced birder I'm finding this very tricky. Seymour's comment that it occurs regularly in Britain implies to me that It's either a migrant or a passage bird rather than a resident. It's got a white rump and must have two whitish wing bars. So what fits the bill (no pun intended)? For my second attempt I'm going to say it's a Common or Mealy Redpoll. Never seen one so probably way off the mark. I await to be shot down in flames.
