Last Sunday I visited RSPB Conwy, with Hazel and Mike. While we were photographing waterfowl from the Ynys Screen, a small lizard appeared in the grass just a foot or two in front of us. As we were behind a screen, I was able to get some eye level photos as it made its way through the grass towards us. The photos are all 'as taken' and have not been cropped or edited in any way. I have 'Googled' it and think this might be a female Common Lizard. Hopefully someone can confirm this or advise me as to the real identity...
Stunning images, MC. Straight out of Jurassic Park. I really like the the fourth one where it's "tasting" the air.
I'll leave it to others to confirm the ID
Yes to common lizard, hard to tell from these photos whether male or female. Males tend to be spotty whereas females are more stripy (males also have an orange spotty underbelly whereas the females is white with no spots).
Thanks for the info KatTai. I didn't get a view of the underside, but there again, I don't often see lizards, especially not from this angle!
The photos look superb MC, you did so well to get such great shots, even on my tiptoes I couldn't get the camera above the required level lol !!
