Oh dear. This is ridiculous but I'm sure this isn't one of my sparrows. If it is, it doesn't look very well!
The photo isn't good as it was pouring with rain and taken from a window.
Cheers, Linda.

Hello, Sparrow.
What a happy coincidence! Last week, for the first time since I've been in my property, I had two Reed Buntings visit my garden and feed off the peanut holder. They came back constantly over two days (19th-20th March) and I was thrilled to also add to my list of garden species. Well done to you - I ought to get my camera functioning so that I can get a few piccies as well.

Hi Corriepaw,
Congratulations on your reed buntings. I don't think mine has been back. I have a large colony of sparrows, and from the comfort and warmth of behind my window it is difficult to tell them apart, so maybe he has and maybe he hasn't. I am keeping an eye out for him, and perhaps his wife.
Yes it looks like a reed bunting. We get them in our garden also, the females and the younger ones have slighlt different markings but are very nice with lots of streaking on the their backs. They also have a cream streaking on their heads. We live on the edge of the countryside with lots of wet areas with reeds etc. If you check a bird spotting book you will see that the black head markings are different.
