  Spotted Mrs Blackcap again a few times including earlier today. Is it a monogomous species of bird? i.e. are the male and female an actual couple or am I just assuming that?

  Glad I'm getting the odd like on the photos. I take dozens to get one that is in focus and with a bird not showing its backside!

  Re blackcaps, the ones you are seeing are almost certainly migrants. They won't be pairs and won't pair up until back on breeding grounds.

  I've a new mystery visitor who is very camera shy and I haven't managed to get a photo of yet. Similar size and shape to the blackcaps but much darker in colour. Are young ones darker? This visitor is quite a sleek dark grey colour but I'm only getting fleeting glimpses before it flies off...
