Blackbirds

Hello, In the last few weeks there has been a family of blackbirds feeding in my garden At first there were two fledglings and the parents feeding them happily with mealworms. More recently, the parents have not been been feeding the young blackbird (not sure where the other one went). However, it has been visiting the garden and making letting me know it was there. Eating mealworms and having a drink. My guess is he/she is about 6-8 weeks old now. The male blackbird whose territory it is has been chasing the baby away aggressively, (as well as pretty much any other bird in the garden). I last saw the young blackbird on Wednesday afternoon, it was sleeping (hidden) after having a good feed & drink. It was such a privilege and pleasure to experience all of this, albeit from a distance. However, I feel quite sad that it seems to have disappeared.. I am left wonderering what happened to it. Would it have gone and found it's own territory, is it hurt, did a cat get it(although it could fly and was very aware of predators)? Just wanted to share my thoughts. Lainy
