For almost 3 days now there has been a scruffy looking magpie huddled up against a wall outside our apartment building, its able to hop around and has been eating the bugs on the ground but from what I've witnessed it doesn't seem to be able to fly properly. We did contact our local animal rescue charity and a officer did come out but due to failed attempts at catching the magpie the lady left, but she did mention that if they did catch it then they would've euthanised it which I was confused by as they claim to only do this if a animal has no other choice. We are really worried about this poor thing as we are close to a busy road and there's a few cats around the area. We didn't see any visible injuries and it seems to be able to hop/fly but other than that it wont fly properly or leave that area. I'm not sure if its been in a fight or something due to the appearance of it but we are obviously really worried and feel helpless. Any advice please?
