Ask an expert There’s a Robin in our garden that only flies around very low and doesn’t really fly off, in fact appears to prefer hopping around secretively amongst larger plants, which makes a sort of wheezing, panting sound - repetitively . Is it ok or is it ill?

Certainly does not sound well to me, if that is the noise the Robin is making. Robins will fly low and in and out of the bushes, ground eat but not make odd noise like that.
