Sabines gull

Question answered.  Thank you.

  • My first call would be to the RSPCA, who should be able to help.

You can contact them on: 0300 123 4999

    Or via the website: https://www.rspca.org.uk/

Or look for your local branch and talk to them.

  • Which country are you in? If correctly identified, you almost certainly won't be in UK. I am guessing it's a damaged bill rather than jaw?

  • I believe there is a Sabs Gull in Hampshire according to the grapevine

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • In reply to Seaman:

True Pete. But there isn't anything wrong with it, so not the bird in question.

The since deleted post implied the bird was with someone else. i.e. in captivity. If it wasn't, RSPCA wouldn't be wanting to chase a free flying gull around, and the advice then would be to let nature take its course.

The response confirms it is UK. A successfully identified sabine's gull in UK would have been photographed.....

While the post has been politely acknowledged, I agree Robbo, to delete the original post suggests something amiss.

  • I just found Robbo's reaction that it must be out of the UK interesting

Not sure why I would have said that, and if I had, I'd have been wrong to.

I did actually strongly suspect it was UK......but not sabine's. Checked my wording, as I know it is often not clear, but in this case, IMO, it was.
