Collared doves that have been coming for years are lost due to our tree being removed. What can we do

Need help with collared doves

  • Hi Kate, there is not much you can do - they may return once they have acclimatised to the changed landscape. As an aside it would be a good idea to change you user name as these are public open forums and you might find yourself bombarded with spam and unwanted contacts

Collared Doves can be taken or killed for safety and health reasons. So basically in certain situations Collared Doves are not a protected species.

  • This is the information about the law and Collared Doves!

  • I agree with Germain. Also, when was the tree removed, and have the doves literally disappeared ever since?
  • Also this another reason why Collared Doves have to be controlled and at times culled. I may sound harsh but this is the reason.

    Regards,

    Ian.

Thank you, yehhh I think that I'll remove my post. I have spoken with the RSPB and they said that there wasn't much that we could do as the tree was diseased and would have fallen down anyway. It was planted for my late mother in law 50 years ago and we are devastated to see it go, but unfortunately there was no saving it. We are going to have a Scott's pine put in later in the year once the ground has settled. Thank you so much for your response x

Hi, thank you for your reply. We have had to have the tree removed today as it was diseased and beyond saving. We didn't want to remove it as it was planted 50 years ago for my late mother in law. We have spoken with the RSPB and she said that they will find somewhere to go and they will come back as we always feed them. They actually respond to my voice when I put food out. We are going to have a Scott's pine put in later in the year and hopefully they will come back again Thank you again for your response x

No problem. What type of tree was it that was removed? I agree with the RSPB comments and guess the doves are still about?
