Hello - can you help please? I'm searching to find the right answer but can't find anything definitive - have I landed at the right place? I think this may well be a juvenile goshawk but know that they are all too similar to a sparrowhawk. This is the entry from my photo-a-day journal on blipfoto while we were on holiday last week in Grosmont - it's sharper if you click the gallery view full screen mode.

Possibly, though I've never seen a goshawk close enough to be confident in identification. Hopefully some will be able to confirm or otherwise.
The vertical streaks on the chest are a good id point the area you saw it is not too far from a local known spot
edit just seen you have had confirmation from Roy,who better ?
I'm over the moon - it was a real surprise and I had no idea one would appear. It's good to know about the vertical chest streaks.
