It was Ann...glad it hasn't been repeated so far though lol...no Jays have ever made an appearance here

Living on the edge of arable countryside we see lots of Corvid activity, most late afternoons large numbers of Jackdaws fly over the river to their busy communal roost site, just up the road our local Rooks are refurbishing their regular rookery and large number of Crows gather nearby and seem to hold court in the large trees over the road, it's a regular Corvid paradise. We also have a small number of Magpies that gather in the fields where the cattle graze but we see very few Jays. A pity this as they are a colourful bird but I think I have only seen half a dozen all year. For us Corvids have always provided a lot of interest and pleasure but even more so recently as we have tried to keep local so have not got to our raptor watching sights. Always great group of birds to watch but often dismissed by many birders

Joking aside, corvids generally have been a lot more abundant around here. Whether its one of the many breeding boom cycles or Covid19 (could be Corvid19 [cue Hitchcock the birds theme]) changing the food balance for crows and many other species.

You could gently inform your neighbour, they're carrion birds, and look for scraps, which aren't in your garden.....
