Help to Identify this Bird

Hi There,

I took a photo of a bird that was sat on our Bird feeding station and I think it might be a Nuthatch but I'm not sure

Any help would be great.

  • I'd say your hunch is correct. Nuthatch it is. Could be a juvenile. Someone else will confirm that.

  • Thank you, yes you are right
  • Definitely a nuthatch. We have seen lots of variety in their patterns and colours on our feeder across the breeding season. I would guess this a juvenile as even the most ragged parents don't look this discoloured from what we have seen! Some have had incredibly defined rusty flanks and a lovely blue coat, but others have been more pale.
