I'd like to know what is causing these holes in my lawn. Diameter approximately 3 cm, although they grow over time. Blocking the holes leads to them reappearing about 2 days later, usually during the day.. A trail cam on the holes has shown no activity near them over the last two months, but the holes keep reappearing. However the cam has recorded the interest of the local cat who has plunged a paw down more than one of them.
Only a wild guess, moles?
It's almost a perfect round hole, do you have a diameter measurement, and if possible, a depth?
That might help someone with the identification?
Piglet said:As above, holes start at about 3cm diameter, but grow over time. I can't give a depth for the tunnel run, but they go fairly deep. No sign of molehills anywhere.
I must apologise, you did mention the 3cm dia.
The fact the hole is deep, would suggest mole, vole or some small rodent.
