Egret?

Hi new here

Just seen a bird and I'm intruiged, would it be possible to see an egret here in West Yorkshire?

I have seen egrets in Africa and it was very similar.

White bird, long beak, quite tall, walking farmland.

It could easily be an egret.

They are quite commonplace in many parts of the UK, particularly the little egret.

Did you notice what colour the beak and legs were?

The reason why I ask is, we have little egrets, great white egrets and cattle egrets that inhabit the UK.

If you're not sure, and are able to post a photo, it would be easily identifiable.

  • It is a fair chance you have seen an Egret, the Little Egret is the most numerous up here in Yorkshire but the Great White Egret is being seen more often now and the smaller Cattle Egret seems to be spreading now. Have a look on the bird i.d. pages on the RSPB main web pages there should be illustrations or as Mike suggests post a photo if that is possible. By the way welcome to the Forum
