Domestication and Travelling Abroad

Hiya, I want to know if a Blue Tit chick was found, hand reared and domesticated (not domesticated on purpose). Not wanting to get rid as doubt it would survive in the wild and it doesn't want to leave when left outside.

Firstly, do I need any licence etc to keep a 'wild' bird in England?

Secondly, if moving abroad and wanting to take the bird, what would I need to do?

Thanks in advance.

  • I would say that you may need a licence to keep a wild bird in the UK, perhaps you could speak to a local animal sanctuary to point you in the right direction.

Whatever country you are moving too, the airline/ ferry company should have information about what you can carry & what papers are needed. Then you may need to get a licence in the country you move too.

It may be better to ask a local bird sanctuary to take it?
