I was shooting chaffinches at Leighton Moss and I noticed this female has different colour legs: the left leg appears lighter at the top than the right one. Is this something to do with light at the time of taking the photo or something else (infection, ageing etc)? Has anybody else noticed something similar in their photos?
I don't see a difference that wouldn't be down to the different light falling on each leg... It is lovely to see a Chaffinch with nice healthy legs/feet though! So many seem to be afflicted with the awful papillomavirus.
Thanks aiki. I was wondering, didn't want to interfere with the leg colour until I knew whether it was 'real' or a result of the camera not recording the colours in the shadows properly.
You are so right about the papillomavirus, in Leighton Moss it's now spreading to the bullfinches too. I saw a couple with it yesterday.
