Goldcrest...

We've had a goldcrest visit our garden a lot recently, hadn't seen one for a few years but I go out almost everyday and see her now in the fir trees near our orchard. She is soooo cute, not bothered by me standing there wathcing her flit around in the branches at all which is lovely!

Not got a great camera as my Dad has borrowed my good one so these are with my little digicam that doesn't take great piccys of moving creatures unfortunately :0( but here they are for you perousal...

can you spot her?

lovely acrobatics

A little blurry but you can see the gold and yellow of the feathers

I thought this one was a nice silhouette :0)

Such lovely little birds, anyone else had anything interesting visit this year?

  • Hi there. I'm fotunate enough to have a goldcrest visit me every day, and is quite happy enough to let me put the camera right up close to him. I've posted a picture in the gallery (though I'm new here, and not sure how to find /link to it) . I've also posted a couple of short videos on youTube. Search for "goldcrest"  and "fivian"

  • I saw one in the Holly Bush from my window last week. This is going to sound unreal, but the first time we saw one, my partner and I were chatting by the window and he noticed it hovering at the window. Basically, looking curiously into the window feeder, until a blue tit scared it off!!
Couldn't believe it, we didn't even know what it was but the gold headdress is unmistakable when we researched.
I'm in the suburbs of Birmingham, yet our Victorian, walled garden is a magical spot for birds.
