As promised (threatened) in Earlier Thread the rest of the stuff apart from the Terns
I left home earlyish, shortly after 7, a mist shrouded journey toward the coast, which shortly before I got there turned into a still, sun-drenched day. High tide at Ferrybridge was 07:30 ish so I decided on Lodmore first:
Fairly distant Great White flew by to greet me
Missed this one singing, but there were several Robins making themselves known
The start of the walk was punctuated by numerous Reed Warblers.... warbling! This may or may not be one of them... Google Lens is inconclusive and the picture quality doesn't help!
A lone Lollipop scampered through the twigs
And bluey looked like he'd had a rough night!
A nice juicy caterpillar for breakfast... yumm!!
Yeah... you've spotted me and snapped me.... now what??
A green eyed monster flew over
It was a beautifully still day, 2 up, 2 down
And one up one down!
There was plenty of chiffing and chaffing
And a gorgeous but fidgetty Goldie against the blue
It was here that I got to the Common Terns, but interspersed with them were some Gadwall and the Black Headed Gulls
This one took so long to splash down, it was over 50 shots on it's own!!
I like the stripy head as the light comes through the "finger" feathers
A much rarer Short-Necked Dinosaurmorant* flew by
*I might have made that name up
A pair of Carrotbills were busy minding their own business
When for no apparent reason one went for fly over to the tern (currently inhabited by gulls) island, where a pair nested and had youngsters last year
And back again
A taste of the Terns if you've not visited that thread
More reflected loveliness
A bit confused by this, because Google Lens insists this is a Cettis Warbler....but it's in a tree and I got about 15 pictures of it.... Unheard of!!
Moving on, lovely Greenfinch
And a beautiful Little Egret cruising by
I'm not sure on this, Common Sandpiper?
I heard rustling, and peering through some greenery (hence the delightfully cool hue)..... Walter Surprise he was!
another obstinately quiet Robin... it was singing a second ago, honest!!
Up surprisingly (to me) high.... Marshie on a thermal or two
And if that wasn't surprise enough.... My first swift of the year (Note, this was a deliberately orchestrated shot using magnificent fieldcraft, and innate knowledge of the local wildlife habits and habitats... there was NO element of luck what so ever!!)
I got a bit confused with this one, the streaks made me think it was something exotic, then I thought Sparrow, and now I think Reed Bunting? (It looks hazy coz it's shot through 30 feet of reeds lol)
3rd surprise, Linnet... not seen any here before, and a female that was less pleased about being photographed
Even though they mooched about on the path for a short while
A more usual Reed Bunting view
So a delightful first couple of hours, and then on to Ferrybidge, where the Little Egrets were prevalent again
A single Little Ringed Plover, the only small wader I saw there, despite the tide being pretty low by now
The Egret mad a dash across the sands, and it's skirt caught the breeze, as he caught something fishy!
There were half a dozen Bar Tailed (?) Godwits
A proud looking Pied Wagtail strutted across the path
One of the Little Terns... I think it's a buoy
And one of the many gulls to finish
Hope you enjoyed the morning out with me, another one tomorrow, possibly, as the forecast is good.
Thanks for looking, and any ID's are gratefully received
Stay Safe All
Wow, that's a great selection PB. I probably haven't seen half those species yet this year... Some great flight photo's, I particularly like the oystercatchers.

Great set PB, it's a female Reed Bunting
Fabulous set of photos and commentary as always PB, what an array of species including the elusive Cetti's warbler; going back to take another look through them as can't soak them all up in one go and they deserve my undivided attention !!
