We are lucky to have two pairs of Great Crested Grebes on the local mere and today I took a few photos of one of the females which came within zoom length ......

Very nice Hazel
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
They are right stunners Hazel, don't you think?
They do, in my experience tend to keep their distance so well done on getting fab photos and to have them in your home grounds is a bonus!
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)

Lovely photos of the female great crested grebe.
Also good to see you're such fantastic photos from the R5 and zoom lens.
Apologies for the delayed reply, I hope both you and Mike are well?

Very nice Hazy, particularly like the photos of her wings out, grebes are normally photographed swimming along and you can forget although small, they do have wings...
A great selection of photo's Hazy, lovely action photo's.
Hi- intrigued of Norfolk wonders how we know this is a female?
S :))

Hi S, sorry, I was purely going on the length of the crest and side "tippets" when they were both together and the one I photographed had lesser crest than the other one;
I'll have to try find the partner photo although crest looks even longer when standing on end !!
Was guessing using same theory of crest and tippets on next photo .............. female left and male right ? !!!! Blame Google
