Just returned from a week in north Lancashire and visiting Leighton Moss most days. here are photos taken during our time there but will load them a few at a time and put them on this one thread; we were lucky to have pretty good weather apart from last Tuesday which was grey and drizzly and there was plenty of sunshine, especially last Thursday. Always a lovely rspb reserve to visit where we tend to bump into regular faces ........ including the robins !!
Always a robin to welcome us with song in the car park ....
Marsh Harriers are always a highlight to see and although they can be a little distant this male Marsh Harrier obliged us with closer views .....
On a grey cloudy Saturday 1st March I spotted a return Marsh Harrier sporting orange wing tags - KH so I updated the LM team and also the ringer with this distant hard cropped record photo; here's a bit more info on this female ......
Lots of robins around, most of which are already paired up ready for early breeding
back later with more pics ....

A robin to welcome you, very nice Hazy . Lovely photo's of the marsh harrier, you look a bit closer than I managed last week at RSPB Fowlmere.
And closer than me yesterday lol. Super start, looking forward to more
There's only two Robin shots loading on my screen Hazel, I think it's an issue here though
Got them all now Hazel, lovely set of shots
Excellent shots Hazy. I love the Robin on the 'Welcome' sign ...
Thank you all, to continue I'll put a few of the woodland birds on here and one of my favourites is the Marsh Tit, a bird I've only seen at Leighton Moss.
and the always endearing Long-tailed tit members ....
and one of Mike's favourites the Treecreeper. ....
a little Wren flitted across the causeway path and landed in the reeds;
it was interesting to see this wren which although singing appeared to be female as she started that behaviour of quivering of her wings almost like in courtship begging mode .......
There were lots of Scarlet Elf Cap fungi around the main reserve and also at the salt marsh area; here's one attractive group of SEC fungi in the lower woodland area...
A female blackbird appeared ....
and the little bird with the upside down smile ! ....... a Goldcrest ....
female deer were seen several days running from Tim Jackson hide ........ this was a misty morning .....
a teal drake with that amazing plumage ...........
this drake was doing that "shrug" courtship movement trying to impress the ladies .......
the always handsome Pintail drake
AIRBUS A400M military aircraft. you can read more about this aircraft HERE
and I think that concludes the photo selection as I didn't take anything like as many this visit; thank you all for viewing
Very impressive selection Hazy, looks like you had a great vist and some nice weather for it.
Lovely set Hazel
Another lovely selection Hazel, very unusual red fungi, thanks
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Excellent shots Hazy. Glad you had a great day with that lovely blue sky ...
