On a visit to RSPB Sandy on the 9th March I photographed my first Butterfly and Moth for the year.
Comma Butterfly(Polygonia c-album):
Orange Underwing Moth (Archiearis parthenias) - Not a good photo, it was the other side of a fence, but a first for me:
Nice finds Snappy, thanks for sharing

Did well getting the moth with wings open snappy I've not seen any landed butterflies (apart from Saturday in Stratford... Post to follow!)
It was sunbathing PB . Look forward to your photo's.
Thanks Hazy.
Cheers BD we had a few warm sunny days which was a wonderful change. Unfortunately today hail and grey skies set in again. Oh well.
Thanks SnappyMac
I have seen brimstone butterflies flying through the garden, finally managed a decent photo of one. Last attempt I only had a blurred half of one...
Excellent shot Snappy. I have never seen a Brimstone in the wild, only in Butterfly houses. They are usually well camouflaged among leaves. Yours stands out well against the purple flowers ...
Very nice shot Snappy, I have seen a few flying around so far this year. You did good to get it in not so harsh light.
