Had to go and visit the m-i-l today but stopped off briefly at Titchfield Haven. Shortly after arrival a marsh harrier sent c100 lapwing up in the air. I then had a walk along the promenade there and saw hundreds of turnstones; some of them are so tame that they were milling around the feet of children who were feeding them seed. Lovely to see. I didn't have a camera with me so used my phone, hence the poor quality of this picture. It was obviously a tern but was different to the others, black head, dark beak and dark tail. I've looked through my reference books and I can't ID it.
I'm a wanderer.
Lovely video , hmm to me and mind I am no where near expert , still a beginner lol....to me it looks like a black headed gull, I see lots of these doon the park and they are all different looking like in the pic below.
Will be interesting to hear others thoughts

Wow! I had it as a tern!
Yes to Linda's id of Black-headed Gull - it's come into summer plumage already

Love a Turnstone, down at Baiter or Ferrybridge, if you stand still they'll eventually walk pretty much right up to you, foraging
Yes, it was lovely to see them coming right up to the children there. Those kids will be birders for life.
Nice to see a very old stomping ground d for me Albertro, lived in Stubbington/Lee for many years
