Just wondering i entered the recent bird watch survey which was taken over 1 hr period. What happens to other regular garden visitors that may not get captured in this period ? In my instance that would be Green woodpecker / long tail tits / blackbirds.
Hi Alan, it will often be the case that you get other species visiting outside the hour you choose but still gives an average of birds seen from those taking part many of whom may see rarer visiting birds to their garden so still gives a general idea of species and numbers. Of course, some people take various one hour surveys over the big garden birdwatching period and then enter the best result they get; I think overall the result will be more accurate if some counts are low and some higher so I wouldn't worry about the species that visited outside of your chosen hour. Having said that I hope you enjoyed taking part of this citizen science activity and will be interesting to see the overall status of bird numbers and how each species is faring, once the numbers have been counted.

I do BirdTrack lists a few times a day Alan, in and out of the garden, that goes to the BTO and there are lots of other tools on there. (hope that's allowed?)
Good question! The survey provides a snapshot rather than a full picture of bird activity. Birds that don’t appear in the recorded hour still contribute to long-term trends through multiple observations across participants. If you see them regularly, they’re still valuable data points! Keeping personal records alongside surveys can help track their presence over time. I was confused about how to order a paper online, but on searching then I found DoMyPaper but I don't know how it works. So I decided to try domypaper.com/how-it-works for assistance. Their essay writing service has a very simple ordering process! You just fill out the form, select a writer, and receive your paper. It’s super easy and convenient for students like me who need academic help quickly!

Yes. Need to be left off the BGBW count. However, if you like doing larger scale counts, BTO do a weekly one. You will still get birds 'missing' each week, but the dips in numbers and species is much reduced, so may be more satisfying/less frustrating than BGBW.
