Although generally using my binoculars more than the camera this week I still ended up with quite a few photos as we get towards the end of our six day visit. We've still got tomorrow to go and have to say the weather has been excellent for November time and really enjoyed our walks around Leighton Moss in the warm sunshine, despite the early and very chilly 1 degree starts.
I plan to put all the photos on this one thread instead of multiple posts and will add them a few at a time, so bear with me as I sort through the pics !
Firstly, I think a couple of scenic photos showing the salt marsh area which is about a mile from the visitor centre and two photos of the lower woodland area on the main reserve First photo taken from the Eric Morecambe hide early morning ...... and yes it was cold. !!
Lower woodland area; the path to lower hide further down is closed at the moment whilst construction of a brand new hide takes place but you can get down most of the lower path and into the woodland. We have had blue sky each day :)
Back to salt marsh area with Little Egret, Great Egret, Redshank (there was a Spotted Redshank but too far away for decent photo).
Redshank ......
female Teal .....
Great Egret - Folies Bergère ? LOL !!
Then it was off to the main reserve ............. I will load more pics later

Hi Hazel the photos of the reed buntings are lovely as were all your photos. I visited Brockholes last year with a couple of friends we had a good day and I found a small path off the main track and looked through my binoculars and saw a deer at the far end of the field, beyond the field was a wooded area and we managed to get a few photos of it before it disappeared into the wood.
Glad you got to Brockholes ILR and had a good day there. The deer were there yesterday as two volunteers told us they had just seen them near Coppice Wood area although and don't suppose we tried hard enough to locate them as we had limited time to get around this expansive area before we continued on our drive home. We are regular visitors to Leighton Moss and pass Brockholes on the M6 each time so decided to revisit it once again. Was hoping to see a few winter thrushes but none had been seen, however, with this very cold snap on the way and possible snow on Thursday we may get a few heading down the western route - fingers crossed. Thanks for your kind comments and viewing this thread.
Fabulous sets Hazel, always jealous when I see the Leighton Moss pics, really must make a proper effort to visit Thanks for sharing
Thanks PB, let us know if you ever head up to LM and we'll arrange to meet you there and treat you to a coffee and cake in the cafe !!
Some wonderful shots there. My teeth are chattering just looking at some of them!
