It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

So good to be able to see them feeding Mr K, Painted Lady has a lovely colourful underwing too!

Umm - don't you just love those people who can be super casual - not seeing any Blues I get but breezing past that stunning Silver-washed Frit! It's not that I am envious or anything Mr Kes,

Another great selection Mr Kes
I thought it was a frit, but after my meadow brown/gatekeeper debacle I decided to keep shtum
Lovely pics Mr Kes. Keep going.
Yes luckily I was there at the right time. There was only one.
Ha ha. Sorry. Well to be fair the main thing I am seeing is meadow browns and silver washed fritillary. I know it seems strange but last year there were hundreds of them about. Had never seen them before that.
Thanks SnappyMac. I am yet to find a Marbled White or a Grayling.
No worries PB. While I was a little bit confused about the meadow brown/gatekeeper thing. I didn't hold it against you. Your ID information is always welcome.
Thanks Ed D.
