Thank you, they are a real light in the darkness aren’t they. So beautiful
  • In reply to Mike B:

Thank you. I have another 50 with branches, leaves and twigs. This is the lucky one

    Definitely, and a beauty too.

  • Lovely shot kevin. I see very few around my way. The best one I ever saw was sat on a branch in clear view on a sunny day about 3 metres away, for a few minutes posing .... Yup, my camera was in the car ...

  • In reply to Billysdad:

Thank you - I have been trying to get a half-decent photo of a Kingfisher for years. The camera in the car moment is the most frustrating thing. Hopefully, next time!
  • These are the last ones from my trip away. They are on the beach at the north end of Morecambe on my way to the Lakes. It was raining, and continued until I got home!

    A Herring Gull I think?

    Lapwing

    And another

    An Oystercatcher outing

    Turnstone coming in to land

    One looking for lunch

One looking fed up like me in the rain

Off to find somewhere warm and dry

  • I like all/everyone's photos, it's great we can go out and take these images of birds and other animals.
Specially like the eye of the kingfisher though, and the one 'looking fed up in the rain' is spot on, and the ewe has a lovely smile. (why is she wearing two different coloured earings?)

  • "the ewe has a lovely smile. (why is she wearing two different coloured earings?) "

There's probably a good reason, and other colour combos are available.

The ewe isn't smiling. She just has wind.
  • And now for something completely different...a coot rumble. Two pairs of coots having a discussion about territorial boundaries in Colebrook lake (south), Moor Green Lakes nature reserve.

I got lucky. Armed with my Canon 80D and Sigma 150-600m lens, these birds were about 30 yards away from me. Light conditions were reasonable.

    And my favourate...Geronimo!

They do try an disembowel each other, locking talons.

They carried on like this for about 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes taking a little breather, before fighting again.

90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.

  • That's quite a punch up going on Angus - they really are quite violent birds
