It’s nothing to do with the RSPB that Dorman’s Pool is restricted to RSPB and Teesmouth Bird Club members as the only access to Dormans Pool is via a private road called Huntman’s Drive leading to a number of industrial complexes including Oil Terminals with security staff. There was a separate agteement with Teesmouth Bird Club for access before the RSPB took over. So don’t blame the RSPB. Complain to who ever owns Huntman’s Drive!
Regards,
Ian.

I disagree - if the RSPB have an agreement then they should extend that agreement to cover people who pay the daily entrance fee to visit the reserve.
Wendy S said:It was all set up by TBC members before the RSPB moved into Salthome, similar with the hide on the edge of the car park so maybe they can afford to be a little elitist
If it was restricted to TBC that would be fine, but now that RSPB have access they should extend that access to anyone who is willing to pay the daily entrance fee.
As I mentioned Bob. It’s nothing to do with the RSPB. Whoever owns Huntsman’s Drive such as possible the industries, individual etc! Who knows! They are the people or organisations to complain to. As Huntsman’s Drive is not owned by the RSPB. So I suppose whoever owns Huntsman’s Drive are the ones to complain to. It was the same before the RSPB started to look after and manage Dorman’s Pool as well! Also the owners of Huntsman’s Drive might not want a lot of propel even those who’ve paid the entrance fee to access to access the private roas. I can’t say whether the case or not. But until anyone has any evidence one way or another! We can only guess!

As I said Ian -the RSPB have negotiated access for their members and the RSPB should negotiate access for de facto daily members who pay for access to RSPB Saltholme for the day especially as its the North East's only major RSPB attraction.
