Party time

It was windy, rainy and cold but the birds decided to give me a show of solidarity by turning up to party

I could go on but perhaps I won't, you get the gist,

rain stopped now and sun trying to get through

Don't know which was the intruder

Here is Titch, I was very glad to see him as had heard what I mistakenly thought was a Sprawk passing overhead just as I went out to feed him

A couple of the Magpie that sat there talking away to itself, or calling for it's partner

I was hoping to get some tail feathers spread out as it flew off but - missed it !!!!

That's it, let's hope these will post

That was a quick reply Dave!!!!! Great aren't they, but the trouble with all these birds is that my lawn is no more green, more like a muddy football field. :-)

Looks busy in your garden Gaynor and fabulous set of photos including the famous Titch who is a favourite with us all on here. Birds always look like they are having fun when bathing despite the colder weather ! Maggie looks resplendent and you can see those beautiful colours of his/her blue/green feathers. They often get such a bad rap but I like the magpies and all corvids. Good to see the sparrow and starling flock too; its going to be a busy springtime in your garden ! thanks for the photos, always great to see.

Thanks Hazy and Linda, just wish that little bit of sunshine would last the week but doesn't sound too good does it? Hazy the birds are definitely livening up some getting ready for their busy Springtime, I was hoping to get the Magpie flying away so could see the beautiful tail feathers as PB has shown, but too slow with the shutter, Now it's 5.00 and they have all gone home, can just imagine them settling down for another windy or rainy night, at least I know they have food in their bellies.

Great selection of birds Gaynor, was it champagne in the bird bath ? The starlings have certainly let there feathers down.

Brilliant photos Gaynor, and those starlings certainly seem to be having a whale of a time....

If its any comfort, our grass is like a bogfest at the moment, well, it has been for a good few months, no thanks to the incessant rain we've enjoyed......

Keep an eye on the tree the magpie was on, it could be eyeing up twigs as nesting material. We have a similar tree that is getting lots of magpie attention, and the last couple of years they have been breaking twigs off for nesting material...

You have the Magpies trained well Mike, that is the Hawthorn hedge that I was "coppicing" last year, you can see some of the branches bent over that I had done before I fell off the ladder and hurt my ribs, so that was that for the "good idea" I had had!!!!!!
If the Magpies would like to help me and take away any bits and pieces they can have a bath any time they like :-)

We do try and work in harmony with our wildlife, and they get their rewards.

Falling of a ladder! Ouch!

I was out of action for a week, and then slowly returned to "duty" over the next few months. Didn't go to hospital for x-ray (funny things happen there!!!) so don't know if the ribs broke or bruised.
I am lucky to have family nearby, neighbors good too. Playing table tennis again so must be well healed now.
