Hope you can get your eyes sorted, I'm afraid I am struggling with my Macular Degeneration which varies at times I think light is a big factor. There is also a cataract in one eye but they will not operate on that unless things get real bad because if that goes wrong it is my only working eye so I would be totally blind' As it is I am now just short of being classed as sight impaired so making the best of what I've got.

Sorry to hear that Pete, I cannot grumble about things as I'm sure mine can be sorted to a satisfactory level even if I still need to wear weaker glasses at the end of lens replacement. I'll be happy if I can reduce the minus 6.5 diopter in each eye (probably worse now as that prescription was 15 months ago) so I am able to enjoy birdwatching and photography once again without reaching the limit of what the binoculars and cameras can be adjusted to. I also have early cataracts too but will have to pay privately for treatment despite very poor vision, I get frustrated missing so much when out birding but I have to remember others like yourself that have added complications. I'll let you know how I eventually get on once I make an effort to get it sorted. Fingers crossed ! I have a birding acquaintance who goes to Leighton Moss who has MD and has undergone various surgery/treatments and he was due to have further surgery in Lancaster the week after I saw him so hopefully they have improved his vision, As we got older it feels like the wheels are dropping off our bus one by one. ! I keep reminding myself, I still have vision no matter how poor it is.
Wendy S said:I'm afraid nowadays what with losing part of a lung and a lot of worn out joints and Crohns Disease short easy walks are my limit. Luckily where we live that still means I get time sat around on the hill watching upland birds. I certainly don't think I have a missed a lot of what I wanted to do
It wouldn't be right if we all liked and did the same things.

I'm still hoping to make it for a day, overnight is still something I'm exploring for suitable places at sensible costs since my accident.
For those new to the forum, and others, here's the link to the: Leighton Moss Meet-up 2022 thread

Hope you can make it Mike; here's the current prices at the local Travelodge which is just ten mins from LM. That's on the cheapest, non refund deal.
