Lindow Common

A quick trip ten mins drive down the road to nearby Lindow Common (Site of Special Scientific Interest and famous for finding Lindow Man if you remember the preserved remains being found in a peat bog).       Not too much around on Black Lake apart from a flock of gulls, mainly BHG's. plus mallards and moorhens.    This was our first visit but thought being on the doorstep we should go take a recce and some exercise.      Should be good in the springtime for Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps and other warblers I hope when breeding season begins.    Here's a few pics from today ......

Black Lake .....    a little larger than I anticipated

this pair of Black headed Gulls were keeping company with one another

whilst others practiced a water landing ...........  extend tail rudder, flaps open and undercarriage down.   !

whoooaahhhh ................   there always has to be a show off.   !!!

and then it was off down the country lanes to check out another pond which turned out to be mainly for private fishing and was devoid of birdlife
