Storm Malik (South Yorkshire)

So much for planning to spend an hour birdwatching this morning for the Great Garden Birdwatch.  No self-respecting bird is going to try landing on a wildly swinging feeder in a howliing gale!  Well, I admit one blue tit did when the wind dropped for a moment!  I don't have a bird table because it all goes straight into the tummies of the local squirrels.  I'll try again tomorow

  • The weather is much calmer today, and I had an excellent hour's birdwatching. No-one interested in the peanut feeder for some reason. I was really hoping the great spotted woodpecker would put in an appearance, but no luck. A record number of woodpigeons after the sunflower seeds on the patio - I had eight at once plus two squirrels.
