The garden continues to be quite busy with all the regular birds at the moment and the bird bird bath is in regular use, despite recent rain.
Young House Sparrow being shown how it's done by a Blue Tit.
It's rather nice once you're in.
That was lovely.
All mine this time.
Let's give it all I've got.
Goldfinches, Greenfinches and Chaffinches also come down for a drink but these are the only ones I've caught using the Bird Bath for bathing.
Best Wishes,
Trevor
Lovely photos Trevor.
A question (well, 2-in-1), the bird bath, is it plastic or stone, and if plastic, how stable is it?
TJS said:Hi Mike,
Many thanks Trevor.
A stone one is not something I'd be able to move easily. I'm looking at the possibility of a plastic one, but the ones I've seen are hollow, unlike the some garden furniture parasols which have a base that you can fill with sand.
I have the sand, but not found a suitable bird bath, yet. But I will.
TJS said:Having said it is stone it's actually molded cement and comes in 2 pieces but still fairly heavy. My mother-in-laws plastic one has a wide decorated base with holes where you can drive in metal pegs to stabilise it.
Either way, stone or moulded cement, it'll be stable. Noted on the ability to peg the plastic bird bath down, that also answers my questions, and explains why when I've looked I see no method of using a ballast like sand.
