Dotterel and Hen Harrier

  • Lovely photos Caroline, it is always so good to see birds we don't expect to see, I have ended up grinning like an idiot in the middle of empty field and yes talking to myself!!!!!!!

    Lot to learn

  • I was surprised by how unbothered the Dot. appears to be, it is a delightful little bird, it seems to be sticking to one patch at the moment - hopefully with the Wheatears coming through it will remember it's meant to be on passage to the South. We are doing well for all sorts of migrants this year. We had a Black-winged Stilt join us when we were water training the dogs the other evening.

  • Wow! such a thrill to see that Harrier!

Great pictures considering it was airborne - it's pretty difficult isn't it?

    All the best.

Quite tricky.  Both were a no show this afternoon
