I have friends who live in a fairly isolated country cottage surrounded by trees and fields and they have had Turtle Doves nest near them for years. I was lucky enough be to be there this afternoon when the Doves showed themselves in the open for a while and I was prepared with my camera, the owners were desperate for me to get a picture for them. I never seen Turtle Doves before, and only heard them at my friends.
Here's what I got.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Fabulous photos Trevor, and I don't think I've ever seen a turtle dove in the wild.
