Rare vagrant - Northern Mockingbird

A Northern Mockingbird from the USA is visiting us this summer, holidaying on the Northumbrian Coast.

  • What a great spot. I’m always fascinated by how these ‘blow ins’ appear. It must be very odd being wind assisted over the Atlantic, if it wasn’t a hitch hiker. Especially if they are not a truly migratory species. It looks as though it is coping with its new area

  • Great bird to get Bob a few years ago I would have been onto my motor bike and headed North for a sighting like this but not nowadays.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • I wonder if this is the same lost individual seen in the SW a few months ago.
