Time to start this year's thread of odds and sods (Last year's Odds & Sods HERE)
Today a large flock of 40 or so Redwings descended on the fields around our local parkland and although they were pretty skittish and distant I hard cropped a few pics for you ....
and a blue tit landed nearby !

With the unsettled and inclement weather, I've not been far, apart from the back garden, dodging the raindollops!
But the gardencams have been busy.
The visiting foxes keep trying to have a drink from the pond, which has a net over it to protect the fish from predation, so Mrs PR found a surplus bowl, and water was placed in it. The fox didn't take long to find it and have a drink.

Come on now folks, sing along, don't be shy....

Unknown said:Nice clips and pics Mike, in one video with the two foxes, the fox in the foreground seemed to appear startled at something when it spooked slightly ! As for the Cyril, they really never give up trying lol
The Cyril's never give up, and they do provide endless amusement.
The foxes, definitely one male, one female, (their toilet activities have confirmed that), I'm tempted to think they are siblings, they still spend a lot of time together. I guess over the coming three months or so that will change as they prepare for mating season.
The dog fox is usually the one to disappear (and reappear) through the hedge. The startling could be one of many things, and one possibility could be, along with the CCTV at the front of the house, I've not managed to tie it in with anything human, as yet.
There is one clip where the young male appears from the hedge, and appears to be wondering if he's missing out on something, before having a forage around and then going back through the hedge to next door.
Things have been very quiet of late, most likely down to the weather, but as ever, the Cyril's keep providing the entertainment, and the nighttime visits from our regular pair of foxes, plus the hedgehogs, no matter what the weather, keep things nicely interesting.
Unknown said:The foxes seem to be regular visitors as your picking up plenty of night activity from them and I see Cyril is still doing his acrobatic impressions lol Nice to have hoggies in the garden too.
Foxes have been regular visitors here for many years. During my working days it wasn't unusual for me to startle a fox as I was about to set off for work.
More fox and Cyril activity, or should I say: "More fox activity and Cyril antics...."
With a day of warm sunshine we decided on another trip to Astbury Mere as its only 20 minutes away from home
Didn't take "Cyrilla" long to find the crushed peanuts !
Nom...nom.... nom
just opposite Cyrilla there was a friendly robin who was lucky enough to receive live mealworms which I had taken with me !
other robin photos on "Robins for MC" thread
I always take swan/duck food with me, half the reason is to educate folk not to feed bread to the waterfowl ! It was heartening to see a little girl with her mother feeding the swans and cygnets with the proper duck/swan biscuits
Here's one of the adult mute Swans
and one of its two remaining offspring out on the mere ......
I took the camera today to get a pic of the ringed Coot .......... I'll update when I get information back on it
a rather tatty looking Dunnock in mid moult; think it had just bathed and was drying out in the sunshine when I spotted it
an endearing little lollipop :)
and house sparrow peeping out of the same tree .....
and finally a late Brimstone
