Wouldn't it be great if I could make that a daily event....
Sadly, I'm back at work Monday, so that'll be it wandering for a wee while, Covid and weather permitting....
Still, back to today's short wander again near the same Nat Trust as yesterday (New Years Day 2021: and the first venture of the year), and the intention was to try and get clearer pics of the redwings, especially as the sun was out, albeit still below freezing, and also a decent sunrise photo.
The sunrise just kept giving, but that is the bonus of the countryside rather than an urban sunrise...
A pair of male pheasants seemed to be enjoying the company of sheep....
And after a while, one of the pheasants decided to stand proud on a fallen tree....
And of course, there is the obligatory robin photos....
Even if a headstone is used as a perch....
Blue tits feeding from the nearby trees....
And the prized desire of this morning, redwings. The redwings were very camera shy, each time I raised the camera to take a phot, they were gone, vamoosh, and yet they weren't too bothered about my, shuffling around. So I tried another tactic, set the camera up on a tripod, for it seemed the movement of the camera was disturbing them rather than me, and it worked.
Stay safe everyone, back to work Monday......
Unknown said:Lovely set of photos Mike and good to see the pretty but rather shy little Redwings, seems your tripod method paid off well. Always nice to see the scenery, the blue tit and the festive robin.
Thank you Hazel.
It was a chance opportunity setting up the tripod, and certainly one that paid off, which totally surprised me. Though I'll probably never find the answer, but I'm curious as to why the camera and big lens spooked the redwings, but not me, so long as I didn't get any closer.
I hope all is going well for Mike?

Thanks Nige. As I said to Hazel, it was a chance opportunity, and one that gave a surprising result. A technique I'll remember for similar scenarios.
