  • lovely set Linda, the pied waggies seem to have had a good breeding year like a lot of other birds.

  • Great shots Linda, I do like the pied wagtails, get one on the roof and front grass from time to time.

    Lot to learn

  • One of my favourite birds - they have so much character! Lovely set.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Nice shots Linda. I think we all love a wagtail and a welcome although only an occasional visitor to our gardens

When I saw it I did wonder whether it was a White Wagtail which is the Continental race. Our Pied Wagtail is actually a sub-species of it. I'm not expert enough to be sure but you might find this paper HERE on the difference between Pied and White to be of interest. I believe they are trickier to distinguish in the Autumn than in Spring.

It would be good if one of our experts could give an opinion.
