Gorgeous, how wonderful to start your day,
Is it a regular visitor? Do you know if nesting near by?
Hopefully it was resting after catching small rodent, the weather has not been to kind for them this year.
Look forward to more pics soon.
Many Thanks for posting

The nest box is about 4 metres from where the bird sits in the pic. I put the box up about 16 years ago, roughly the same time as I put up the Kestrel box at the rear of my house 100 metres away.
We have been extremely fortunate to see several broods of youngsters over the years and hope to see many more.
I am surrounded by fields which were arable farm land but my neighbour (the farmer) has now decided to take advantage of a government grant which will allow him to create a wildlife friendly habitat of approximately 100 acres around my house. This will include a pond less than a stone's throw from my garden fence. The land is heavy clay so it should support a pond no problem.
The project should have been well under way by now but Covid 19 has delayed things a little. I have offered my services FOC and I can't wait to get started.
