Stopping for a Chat.

Discovered a 'new' place only four and a half miles away. I've passed it lots of times and never thought about going in. It's actually a small wind farm with seven turbines and a circular path of around a mile and a half in distance.

The habitat is very open with Heather and peaty, boggy ground. Plenty of small bushes/shrub/scrub type stuff and old dead wood for Pipits and Stonechats to perch on.

Obviously nesting going on with adult birds collecting Caterpillars and insects. List from yesterday was as follows.

Birds seen:

Pied Wagtail

Meadow Pipit

Swallow

Linnet

Jay

Kestrel

Buzzard

Skylark

Blackbird

Curlew

Reed Bunting

Wren

Birds heard:

Cuckoo (Yippee..., not heard one for a few years now)   :-)

Willow Warbler

Chaffinch

Sedge Warbler

Blackcap

Enough talk though, a few shots from the last few visits. No big glossy close ups, the place is really open, so everything sees you coming before you see it.

I must confess that I do much prefer a habitat shot anyway.!! :-)

Stonechat (m)

And with breakfast for Junior.

Mrs S with seconds for Junior.

He's being well fed, I'll say that much for him.!!

Junior.!!  I think he must have climbed up there due to being too fat to fly.!!  :-)

A few Meadow Pipits now.

In a small bush.

In a small tree.

On the Heather.

Male Reed Bunting.

Kestrel fly-by.

Linnets in the rain.

On a small tree.

On a twig.

In the scrubby stuff, with a photo-bombing youngster being fed below. :-)

On the Gorse.

A final male Stonechat.

It's nice to find somewhere new to go, especially so close to home.

I suspect I'll be going more often now.!!  :-)
